An Excellent And Impressive Documentary Film--Well Worth Seeing.
I bought a seat for this going in cold and clueless as to who or what A Tribe Called Quest was. I completely missed the Hip Hop generation's music, having aged to that place where contemporary is an anachronism to me. The initial reason I bought the ticket is because Michael Rapaport's name was on the production as director and knowing his body of work as an actor, I felt assured the effort would be worthy of notice. It was indeed worthy of notice. In fact, I found parts of this documentary very moving. To the fans of Quest, this probably means little but remember, I'd never heard their work before in my life. I found this film charged with an energy rarely seen in documentaries. I agree with others in that there just wasn't enough of their music included in the piece but screen time was otherwise well spent. Fan of Hip Hop or not, see this. It's worth the ticket and like me, you might just learn a thing or two. At minimum, you'll be quite entertained for your money.
