I try to balance my movie preferences between the Blockbuster "loads of fun" movies, and the Academy "lets find the meaning of life" films. I rented "Bangkok Dangerous" expecting a Blockbuster film with loads of fun. I was sadly disappointed. This was a blockbuster film for the simple sake of being a blockbuster film. The story was old, the action was overused, and the characters were predictable. I truly felt like this was something I had seen a hundred times before. There was a complete lack of creativity. I would not watch it again. You may want to give it a shot if you want to spend two hours on another action flick, but that's all you will get, just another action flick.
I actually started to kind of get into it until the ending.. Way to ruin a somewhat DECENT film. Cage needs to find a film that will actually compliment his acting abilities, not disturbingly flaunt them in a terrible manner. Let's all hope The Knowing will be worth it.
When i first saw the comercail for this movie I thought OMG it looks good n its nicolus cage where could it go wrong. I thought, two of my favorite things action n nick cage. Well lets start with plot. Nick cages name is joe n joe moves to bangkok cas he has a mission to kill 3 people there n he kills them. Now ur prob thinking k good side plot now what is stopping him. Well nothing. Nothing is stopping him at all. Thats like having star wars with out the sith n the clone troppers or droids. Its just three guys v the jedi nothen good there. K now lts go to action. Well i guess half a car chase sceen in the beggining a boat/ motercycle chase in the middle n a gun brawl at the end. They were very good scenes nothign wrong there. Im not saying bad i was being very mean to this movie its a great one timer movie mabey to or three timer noten else. So good not great.
The plot kind of wasn't there, but I would watch Nicolas Cage in anything. I liked his side kick too.Between the two they managed to salvage a movie that really had the potential to stink.
This movie is the TRUTH. It's...so dangerous. Nicolas Cage is just the man. He brings all his usual creepiness and almost-believable action-star antics. It's just awesome. Don't give me that crap like it was dumb or it had no plot or it made no sense. I ain't tryin' to hear it. This is a Nicolas Cage movie called Bangkok Dangerous. It's a remake of the hit Thai movie Bangkok Dangerous. What the hell did you expect? Bottom line: If you like your Nicolas Cage movies on the creepy and unbelievable side, if you're into Asia (the band or the continent), you like a good training montage, or you want to see some dude get his arm cut off with a boat propeller, go see Bangkok Dangerous. Five stars, baby.
