Master film-maker Pedro Almodovar returns to his gritty roots in a neo-noir thriller set in a small Spanish village where a struggling actor (Gael Garcia Bernal) approaches successful film director (Fele Martinez) with a an idea for a movie based on the seedy events that took place at the Catholic school they both attended as boys. Riveting, high voltage sex scenes induce the viewer from start to finish in an almost hallucinatory spell of intrigue as desperate people do very desperate thing to get what they desire.
