    A solid movie .....

    by sgr4698

just got back from the midnight showing. I liked it, its not as bad as the critics are saying. I am however a Vin Diesel fan. Its not great but it is for sure entertaining with good action and an interesting story.

A must see for Riddick fans

This movie has all of the features of Vin's Riddick character, but only placed in a "not so distant future." I must admit, I was a little disappointed with the ending, it certainly could have gone in many different directions worthy of an excellent movie. Having said that, Vin's character makes this movie.
    No surpries there!
I guarentee for those of us that carry our "Chronicle's Of Riddick" dvds around with us, this is a must see movie. 'Nough said.......

LOTS OF ACTION, BULLETS, EXPLOSIONS - HOLLYWOOD FORMULA. GRADE: D

This film-adaptation of Maurice George Dantec's novel, Babylon Babies, is a jumbled mess. Started out with a potentially promising premise, the script shifted gears to become inundated pregnant-heavy with action - sacrificing whatever message that director Mathieu Kassovitz was trying to tell us - thanks to 20th. Century Fox's INEPT butcher-edit, the U.S. release is 11 minutes SHORTER than the European version.
Maybe those controversial religious deleted scenes will be on the DVD.

Production values are average; special effects are mediocre; set design - NOT futuristic enough; locations - under-exploited; camera-work - erratic shaky jarring close-ups that muddled action/fight scenes.

Michelle Yeoh and Melanie Thierry turned in the best performances. Vin Diesel CANNOT act.

Be prepared to go 'HUH?!' at the end of the movie.
The ending sucked(big time) - the story is not quite over - hinting at a sequel(!!!).

If this were a meal, it was unsatisfying stale bland.

    OH MY GOD

OH MY GOD. I've seen most of the anticipated action/sci-fi movies that were released this summer, and this disgrace of a film was the worst picture I have ever seen this year. The story was HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE!!!!!! It made ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE AT ALL. THe action sequences weren't even that good. There were only like three of them! In addition, the ending was without a doubt the WORST conclusion of any movie I have EVER seen in my ENTIRE LIFE. PLEASE!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! This movie is NOT worth seeing. At all. I can't believe I just wasted two hours of my life sitting through Babylon A.D. I heard that even the director admitted it was a complete disaster.

    Surprisingly good.

Actually, I think that this is Vin Diesel's best movie so far. After watching it, I really felt that the critic's review was very unfair. The movie despite being an action movie, and sometimes a little ambiguous has subtler undertones that are normally attributed to thriller movies more than action movies. The end of the movie was well done. From the opening scene, you already know what the end is going to be from a simple statement from Vin Diesel's character, Toorop, but the way it gets there and how the end actually plays out is good. It really leaves a kind of bittersweet feeling. Now one thing that may put some people of is that the focus of the movie doesn't really seem to the the action, or the characters' relationships, but more about what Toorop reacts and choses what to do after he comes in contact with the Aurora, the girl he has to protect. It has a very interesting alternative future which doesn't seem so unlikely with the current situation with Russia. It is worth seeing.

in all honesty vin diesel is a great actor but this movie is by far the worst one i have ever wasted my money on. ive seen saving private ryan to triple x and to this was not at all satisfying what so ever. vin can do way better than that. the chronicles of riddick was a hundred times better than that. sorry vin. your acting was great but the outcome was just horrible. hope to see better movies from vin.

I thought it was a good enough movie. The effects were good, the plot was somewhat mondane. I liked the movie. I would recomend it to my friends.

The film editor should be shot

    by 2008ww

Not a bad little science fiction/action flick except for the editing. Everything is either extreme closeup of someones nose or rapid cuts of 1/4 second duration. It makes the action sequences worthless as you can never really see whats happening. Save your money for a movie whose editor didn't just graduate from making rock videos.

    Second Time Around...

I actually found myself in the position where I ended up seeing this movie twice and gained a different appreciation the last look. While the storyline was worthy of a movie, this was surely not as intense as the book, (if you read it). However while agreeably not a blockbuster or a movie to rush out and pay theater prices to watch, it warrents a look-see. Vin Diesel did his role well enough to catch your attention and the supporting cast enough to keep it. At times the dialoge was lacking but the scenery, gruff nature and semi-action held its own.

A movie made for the fans of the book.

    by _Zeros_

I never read any of the Babylon Babies novels. I had no knowledge of them til watching this movie. The movie (for me at least) felt very sporadic. Just a bunch of scenes that had very little meaning and dialog that had even less. The thin string of storyline wasn't enough for me to really enjoy this film. I suppose that if someone read the books that this movie is based off of, they would be able to fill in the blanks and get where this movie wanted to go. I simply could not connect with the characters in this film... though the action and explosions were kinda cool. I give this movie a "meh" for a good attempt but weak execution.

    BLaahh

the most horrible movie i have seen this year. a waste of time. i wish i could have my hours back. Vin DIesel has to be one of the most famous actors who are horrible at their jobs. Didnt catch my interest at all. not even worth a rental. trust me guys it's a waste of time. the script totally relies on Diesel's image, some events in this film are totally unexplainable for example; when the prize cage fighter grabs the girl (what's her name) cascade, neora, i dnt remember, who cares. why did that happen, totally stupid, the writer or director just wanted a reason for Diesel to get in there and land some punches, other than that, there is no logical reason for that to happen. the only good thing i can say about this crap film is the noticeable art direction. Just a big waste of money on something that's not worth it.

    not really worth it.

    by kacarc

I was not hoping for much when we went to see this movie. I was thinking of an action packed, shoot 'em up type movie and didn't expect much of a plot. There was not enough action and the plotholes were so large I had a lot of trouble crawling out of them. I go to movies to "turn my brain off" and can usually suspend my disbelief in order to enjoy a less than well written movie, but this was pretty bad. The ending was also pretty ridiculous.

    vin should of stayed home

This sci-fi movie was so confusing that it was hard to make any sense. The movie plays like a versuon of children of men but with more action and less of a story.so u can choose what to watch but when the director himself says something negative about his movie u know to avoid it but lets hope a directors dvd with added more binding details in it will be released on dvd
