This light comedy was adapted from the novel by Charles Sherman. Hal Whitney (Bryant Washburn) is a wealthy but wayward young man. One night, after leaving a party, he runs across an alcoholic bum, Timothy Payne (Alec B. Francis), who was once a college professor. Whitney decides to adopt the tramp as his father, and brings him along on a yachting trip. Helen Maynard (Estelle Taylor), Whitney's snobbish and self-centered fiancée, is aghast at the old man's presence and leaves the party in a huff. Whitney, however, sticks by his adopted father, who reveals a wisdom that gives the young man direction and purpose. Helen comes to realize her selfishness and apologizes to Payne. Payne eventually meets Whitney's flighty mother, Elizabeth (Eugenie Besserer), and a romance develops. Elizabeth returns to earth and marries Payne, while Whitney and Helen head for the altar. ~ Janiss Garza, Rovi
