Didn't like it as much as I thought I would

There were definitely moments that I did enjoy. The opening scene where each character shows off their strength in the middle of a battle was fun. I loved the little funny moments between each character too. However, it felt like there was too much going on with the plot. We were trying to defeat Ultron, but then this new guy Vision shows up, and Tony wants to disregard everyone, but Natasha has a thing for Bruce, then Thor wants to have a vision in some water... It all felt like too much. My biggest problem was the new character Vision. I really felt like the Avengers were playing god there. He says "I am, I am" and it actually offended me. I'm confident that Jesus is the only one allowed to use that line. Plus, he picks up Thor's hammer, and acts like he is better and mightier than humans. It really sat with me wrong. The conclusion felt really rushed. It irritated me that Captain America doesn't get to say "Avengers Assemble". As a fan, I felt like I couldn't even get that!

Avengers, Age of Ultron, was so much fun, I can't wait to see it again to catch what I missed roaring around that roller-coaster! It has great action sequences, some beautiful shots and the trademark Whedon wit. And, to quote Loki, we do see that Hawkeye truly "has a lot of heart", The new characters fit in seamlessly and the story lines make perfect sense. Great therapy for real world malaise.

Alas, they tried to hard...but some redeeming qualities

The movie starts with this fast motion, hard to follow, sequence depicting the attack on a Hydra base, that left me screwing up my face thinking, "o brother." It took a while for the plot to congeal, but it finally did. The Avengers, though like "gods," are flawed, fearful, fickle, and often out of control. Not like God actually, just creatures with incredible power. We watch this on display as they have their weaknesses turned on them. The virtue that seems to be highlighted as the prima facto is the necessity of teamwork, all for one, and one for all. What ever you do, whether good or bad, just do it together. Hmmm... Well, ok, in a world where allegiances are hard to come by, it is certainly honorable to have one-another's backs, but that isn't going to be the game changer. What drives the noble virtue of loyalty is something deeper...the rightness of the thing... Ultron lays the cornerstone: it is about life, sanctity, this is the dividing line.
