    Avatar: What an Experience

This movie is the turning point for everything in the future of Hollywood.
From the new and exciting technologies, to the enticing and origional world,
This movie delievers in every way.
    -The Directing is absolutely amazing
-The acting is exceptional, even though most of the shots were done while wearing bulky motion-capture.
-The plot is a standard one, played many times before, but with new twists and turns.
-Although the Sci-Fi runs rampent, it is an undertone, bering that you forget the distinctions that differ us from the Natives. Within 10 minutes, you connect and sympathize with them.

This is one of, if not the best movie i have ever seen,
I fully reccomend it to anyone willing to escape the hummdrum of everyday life, and get away to the captivating world of Pandora.

    We Were Transfixed!

Whether it was the 3D IMAX presentation and the mesmerizing imagery, or the incredible interaction of man attempting to understand and indeed appreciate and learn from another culture, (something we could incorporate into everyday national and personal life), or the hugely successful animation which carried all the emotion of human screen presentation, this movie brought us somewhere we have never been before, and we literally did not blink for the entirety of the film. We were transfixed! Incredibly well done, and enormously worth seeing. Wonderful holiday wishes to all.

LOVED IT EVEN MORE THE 2ND TIME !!!!!

    by r1111s

This time I saw it in IMAX 3D vs Digital 3D. If you have a choice, I recommend the IMAX. It's a bigger experience. Since I already saw the movie once, this time I had the opportunity to notice some of the details that I missed the first time (e.g., details of the computer interfaces and the log entries that Sully was making like the date, 8/31/2154) and to really take in the beautiful artwork that comes to life. This film is now my #1 favorite of all time. When I left the theater, I had the same WOW reaction that I did the first time I saw it; and all I could think about was when can I go again. The acting is great. The story line is great. The special effects are great. The direction is great. The effect is magical. James Cameron hit this one out of the galaxy. Avatar will win every award there is. This film is EPIC.

    Dances with Na'avi

    by nlack

Sometimes you see a movie and say to yourself, "I've seen this story before". We all do. Most of the time, they are ripoffs of a classic. But sometimes they are a better telling or retelling of a story that never gets old. Such a movie is Avatar. While the plot mirrors is some ways "Dances with Wolves" that academy Award winning picture with Kevin Costner spying and then becoming a Native America, nothing prevents us from escaping Earth's boundaries and retelling this story with more extremes.

This movie is beautiful if nothing more. The setting, the hot forrested planet of Pandora with its towering main tree that dwarfs all others except, perhaps, Disney Worlds' Animal Kingdom tree. It is a planet as we learn in which everything is connected -- literally. The Avatar concept isn't fully explained but there is enough for us to buy in. Matrix rules do NOT apply here. Movie is kid and adult friendly. The 3d works but does not get in the way of the story. Its a backdrop and not a gimmick

    All I can say is...

I have never written a review for Fandago in my life, but after seeing this movie I needed to say just how incredible this movie was. Throughout the film I do not think I even flinched I was so absorbed by the story. Anyone who enjoys movies will love this. I am amazed that people were able to dream up an environment as incredible as Pandora, which was not only presented with stunning visuals, but truly brought to life. I found the story of the main character Jake Sully especially uplifting, and if you see this movie in IMAX 3D you will be taken away on an incredible ride which leave you in awe far past the end credits.

This movie was worth twice as much as I paid for and I did not even expect it to be good. You don't have to love sci-fi to love this movie.

    Amazing Movie Experience

Avatar is an amazing movie experience. Imax 3-d is the only way to see this movie, otherwise you're cheating yourself. Cameron literally puts you into Pandora--you feel like you're actually there. This is an action movie, love story, and epic fantasy all rolled into one. This is the most visually pleasing movie I have ever seen.

Only negative I have is the anti-American feel to the movie--don't mix political messages into a movie like this one--yeah, we all have our own ideas about the war, but leave them out of an otherwise wonderful movie (America, I guess, only cares about energy and money to film-makers). Political messages aside, this movie is Highly recommended. Cameron has done it again.....

Wonderfully Made Fantasy Film Meets Ugly Portrayl Of Human Nature in 3D

This film delivered on the promise of an exciting new world and eye candy effects. It was great in 3D. A surprise I did not expect was the story line's portrayal of human nature as narcissistic, sinister, and greedy. The only humans that were portrayed in a positive light were the scientists. And they did not want to be human anymore. This movie had an underlying message that I am not sure I enjoyed. It definitely did not leave you with a happy feeling about belonging to the human race. IIf you look beyond that, stay surface (do not go deep with this movie) and focus on the creativity and effects it is a very enjoyable film. The film did a wonderful job showing us an alternative world and their culture. One thing I enjoyed most about this film is that the characters were not one dimensional, as they clearly had a culture and personalities. The opportunity of seeing the creators vision of this world and its inhabitants is enough to ignore the bad human theme

    Astounding only puts it mildly.

For a long, LONG time , BLADE RUNNER was my favorite movie of all time. Then the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy came out & blew that one out of the water. I didn't think anything could top the Ring trilogy--& some may think I'm a loony for saying this--but AVATAR knocked me so far into the outer ionosphere I still can't believe what I witnessed in the IMAX theater in 3-D. There has, IMHO, never been such a film so full-to-overflowing with eye-popping special effects; it is like a transcendental experience unlike any you've seen before. The floating mountains even reminded me of the landscapes conceived by the master artist Roger Dean, who has done several works of art for the progressive rock band YES. To its credit, this film does not rely on effects to carry it: like Star Wars, it tells a great morality tale of good vs.evil in a fairly unique, eye-opening manner. A bit violent for young children, I would caution. But see this film at all costs; it will be talked about for years to come!

Worth the extra money! I saw the regular version but heard a lot of buzz in the office about the IMAX 3-D version so I went to see it this weekend.

    Avatar 3D IMAX Rating

James Cameron adds his tremendous creativity into imaginative 3D and VFX technology and shows us how passion for movies can create path-breaking movies like Avatar. The 3D effect, visual effects and the colors transport you into a new dream world you had never imagined. The na?vis in this movie are excellent and they are familiar despite of blue skin, golden eyes and long tail. The na?vis bond with various animals and co-exist with them. The Pandora world is pleasant with its colors and is easy on eyes. The night vision of Pandora is a visual feast with pleasing florescence colors. There are floating mountains, flying dragons with butterfly colors, flies that look like jelly-fishes etc. The big tree is amazing.
On the whole, Avatar is an entertaining, absorbing, ground-breaking and pleasant (not alien) film. Book your tickets right away and watch Avatar in 3D format. And feel yourself extremely lucky if you got an IMAX theatre in the city you live!!

See it in REAL IMAX 3-D if you are going to see it.

Don't go to a regular theater or one of the imitation IMAX's, we should boycott those. James Cameron has done better as far as plot and characterization, pretty predictable and eye-rolling at many points. But it looks beautiful and no one directs action better than him. Unlike most of the action directors today, you can actually tell what is going on.

MUST SEE IN IMAX 3D (and to the haters)

    by SCBK_

Okay lets get this out of the way first - yes the story itself is a lot like a cross between dances with wolves and braveheart. But to all you haters who are saying that the movie is an allegory and that the humans rep america, the aliens - indians - GROW UP! IT'S A MOVIE! James Cameron just wanted to make a movie with amazing special effects and an intricate, engaging, thought provoking story - and he succeeded in all aspects! And in IMAX 3D - IT MUST BE SEEN!

Yes I picked up on the subtleties of the story - but guess what - THAT IS ALL OF HISTORY! James just worked off of what he knew as engaging for a story and I guarantee he was not sending some kind of political message. And before you say something else - I AM A REPUBLICAN and even I have to admit there is truth in the movie.

Conclusion - see the movie for yourself and make your own conclusion - but see it in IMAX 3D cause it is AWESOME and doesn't work in any other format (especially non 3D as in the commercials)

    Avatar

I was impressed with not just the dazzling effects, but the story and acting as well. The 3-D was used like no movie before. It was used to expand the forest, enhance the experience of looking in to another world, to get a sense of the size of people and machinery and tell the story in a way where you were experience the events on the world itself. Happily there wasn't the usual 3-D parlor tricks of having contrived objects tossed toward the audience. The IMAX screen made it all the more real. This changes movies forever... in a good way. They're gonna have to build more IMAX theaters.

    Avatar is Astonishing! Awesome! Astounding!

James Cameron's AVATAR was a breathtaking theater event!

This movie must be experienced in the IMAX 3-D atmosphere! You will want to go back for more! Everything is in this movie...wounded heroes, corporate villains, military mad-men, epic fights to save nature & a love story between two antithetical characters. Superb 3-D CGI! Absolutely awe inspiring 3-D sound effects!

    See this movie!

Plan an entire day because lines are long! We purchased our tickets through Fandango so our wait was manageable.

    See this movie!
