A gem of a movie available on DVD

We picked up August Rush on DVD from our local Redbox for a Friday night, after the kids are in bed, nothing else on TV, TV time filler. We discovered a little gem of a film that we really enjoyed. Freddie Highmore is so compelling in his role which just underscores this youngster's amazing talent. Robin Williams is creepy scary in this dramatic casting. Stories this good are rare to come by and the musical background enhances the experience. We may buy this one to keep in our home movie collection. See this movie when you can.

A Profound Look at the Mystery of Human Connectivity

I am a 27 year old male rarely given to emotion particularly in movies. Yet I found myself on the brink of tears for the last hour of the movie. I left the theater pondering the true nature of human connectivity. The genuine journey through a painful and confusing life is cast magnificently against each characters foolish pursuit for something greater. I found myself hoping the movie would not end since I realized I personally yearn for such intimate connectivity myself. I must now discover if I have the tenacious courage of August to believe in something more and journey towards the impossible.

    Music is everywhere.

This is the Holiday movie for the family to see. August Rush is a touching story of an orphan boy trying to reach out to his parents through his music because he believes they can hear him. You rarely see the audience moving to the music, but that is exactly what happened. I even found myself getting into the music. Music is everywhere and in everyone. Keri Russel and Jon Rhys-Meyers were wonderful. Worth seeing.

    August Rush

My whole family loved this movie! Drama, suspense, action, incredible music, romance, comedic moments and a whole lot of soul--this movie had it all! What an amazing cast! I was so disappointed when it did not win any Oscars. I also cannot believe that it only had one nomination. Even the cinematography was fabulous. The only thing I would have changed was the ending. ( I wanted to see that family hold one another and realize their connection on film.) We cannot wait to own this film on DVD!

Most of the Oscar-winning films I've purposefully avoided. I won't go to a movie filled with extravagant special effects anymore. I am so tired of violence in films. I just won't support it. My husband feels the same way.

A Fairytale For The Modern Era!

Forget "Enchanted" - the real fairytale is August Rush! From its beautiful score to its unique take on the bond that ties us together this is the feel good movie for the holiday season. I sat in the audience with myself, my borfried (who doesn't like chick flicks), my 18 yearold male cousin and my thirteen yearold female cousin and none of us had anything bad to say about this one. It will appeal to a wide audience and while a few may say it is a little saccrin, don't let their bitterness disuade you - it is truly beautiful. Finally, it should be noted that the acting is strong and some of the camera work is as arty as the signature song. In the end if you are one of those hyper practical types you may find that it isn't as "believable" as you might like...but fairytales rarely are, but we still enjoy them because a piece of us wants to believe in magic even if only for one hour and fifty minutes! In the end this is a big thumbs up for me.

    Truly Beautiful

    by

This has to be one of the most musically stimulating and beautifully touching movies ever made. The music in this film runs the gamut from classical to rock to soulful gospel. If you are a musician or musically inclined, you will totally get this movie and what August hears but even if you are neither of these and you just have a heart, you will be bought to near tears at the sheer magnificence of this film. I really hope it wins a few awards including an oscar because it is deserving.

    Exelete'!

    by droc

Great story and this isn't the type of movie I willingly watch. I'll summarize it this way: My girlfriend cried for about 85% of the film and even yours truly had a lump in his throat during the final scene(no tears though). As a parent, avid movie goer, and fan of music as an art form, this was a very enjoyable film to watch. GO SEE IT!

    Rush to see August Rush!!!!!!

    by kiedis

I saw August Rush last night and it was fantastic. The music was so captivating and it is such a great story. reminded my of Oliver tiwst crossed with Little Orphan Annie in todays world. I loved every minute of it and can't wait to go abck. Freddie is such a great actor I have seen some of his other works and he is why I went to see this. Robin Williams was fantastic !!!! Kerri Russel and Jonathan Rys Meyers were great too.
A great family movie, or those or love a good love story.

Make sure that you have extra tissue with you. Great chick-flick

I know when I like a movie when I feels as though I am there, like a ?fly on the wall?. The score, the cast and the director made that happen for me in August Rush. The music not only spoke to Evans? parents it spoke to me, the scene when Evan goes in the church is particularly touching. All of the acting was brilliant. When you have Terrance Howard (Hustle and Flow) and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (The Tudors) acting on screen, you know that you are in for emotional performances.

The story telling was pretty good. In the beginning of the movie didn?t understand Evan (Freddie Highmore), he seemed kinda weird to me. But the pieces came together about 30 minutes into the movie.

Feel-Good Movie! Escape with August Rush

Totally predictable, totally unrealistic and I loved every minute of it. Freddie Highmore has an absolutely infectious smile, Keri Russell and Jonathan Reese Myers are totally believable as the couple who fall in love at first sight and make a baby on a one night stand. Robin Williams so campy as the head bum, such a great role for him. As corny as this is I just loved it. If you want a feel good movie go see August Rush.

In my Top 5 Movies EVER WATCHED

I loved this film. If i could give it one hundred stars, then i would. True, it may not be able to happen, but so what? Who Cares!! I loved it!! It was one of the best movies I have seen all year. I am a music lover and the songs were just magical. This movie had a true affect on me. It includes miracles, family, and the gritty streets of New York City. The music and this child turned NYC into a beautiful masterpiece. For the last 15 minutes of the movie, I was shaking from the inside out. My heart got pumping and i literally started to slightly tremble. Not because i was scared, but because I LOVED IT! We were in a very magical point in the movie and I was shaking, I know it's cheesy, but it's true. That has never happened to me before. This film touched me in a way that is hard to find and that no other film has.

    A Truly Touching Film

I see movies on a regular basis. Very rarely do I ever get emotional at a movie. I think the last movie I cried at in the theater's was Forrest Gump or Moulin Rouge. However, this film truly touched me and I couldn't help but have the tears swell in my eyes and gush down my face! It's a wonderful film about listening, following your heart, following your dreams, and never giving up! Anyone who has an intense passion for something will completely relate and enjoy this film. It's a definitely a Must Go and I think you will come out of the movie with a smile on your face!

    August Rush

This is one of the best "feel good" movies I've seen in a long time. While it does have a predictable ending, the story is beautiful and well acted. The sound track (music) is fantastic, bringing in everything from choir, to rock to classical, all beautifully woven. Put your troubles away and go see this film, accepting it for what it is.
