If We As a Nation Fall It Will Come From Within

Ayn Rand's master piece brought to life. For liberty to flourish people must be the master of their own lives and government the servant. Freedom is the tide that floats all boats.

    Scariest film of the year!

Rising gas pricing, increased government control, liberty taken, hell on Earth! This film was very well directed and a great continuation to one of the greatest fiction novels of all time. It raises a lot of "what if" questions, but also opens up the viewers eyes to scenarios that may seem unbelievable by the naive. The main characters are strong, and you can't help but admire and dislike them. Good direction, good acting, good story, good film. This is a must see for 2012.

Great movie; it should be a required watch for every voting citizen!

    by nareitz

While there were several deviations from the book, the movie was awesome. It's stunning similarities to our current fiscal situation are uncanny. It is if Ayn Rand could see the future and predict it with incredible accuracy.

My biggest complaint is that the cast differs from the first part of this trilogy. Although, I must say that the character they chose for Dagny was far more appropriate in terms of physical appearance. The Dagny character in part one was more attractive than Ayn Rand's described.

My second complaint is that the control room within Taggart Transcontinental was completely different than Part I. Continuity between parts will be lessened due to changes like this.

I really loved their inclusion of the occupy movement's spurious claim to be the 99%, and the inclusion of Sean Hannity.

As with Part I, I look forward to buying multiple copies of the DVD when it is released in hopes of influencing the decision to make Part III.

The "professional critics" are terrified that you might just do your own thinking!

Part 2 exceeded our expectations! Adapted to the change of cast better than expected, many performances were spot on. Of real value whether you have not yet read the book & /or missed Part 1. As always with a screen adaptation there will be changes, but the film had a good flow of continuity with the book. I hope a LOT of people see it, and soon! There is much that reflects current headlines extrapolated forward. We can change the outcome for the better, if people will learn from history, and from films like this.

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." Thomas Jefferson

?The urge to save humanity is always a false front for the urge to rule it.? -H.L. Mencken

"One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors." -Plato 429-347 BC

"Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
    ? George Santayana (1863?1952)

Atlas Shrugged II - can't wait for III

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed Atlas Shrugged II. Script is close to Ann Rand's book. Hope that others who see the movie without reading the book are able to follow the frightening parallels to what is happening today. Working for an honest dollar is not greed, taking from the rich is stealing, chrony capitalism is bad, etc. Movie is more than a political statement, it is also very entertaining. Actor who plays Dagny's brother plays the part brilliantly. Other actors, like Mooch, were disturbingly delicious. Can't wait for III!

There is no other movie like this one...

If you don't like movies about great ideas, this is not the movie for you.

If you don't like movies with characters that act on the virtues of rationality, honesty, integrity, productivity, justice, pride, self-esteem, honor and benevolence, then this is not the movie for you.

The original story was written in 1957, but the world in it could be today, or a today a few years from now, but if you don't like stories with that kind of precience, don't watch this one.

If you wouldn't like a story that is a mystery depeicting the murder, not of a person's body, but of his soul - and the fight to save him, then stay home and drone off on TV, after all, you wouldn't want to have to think.

If you want to lead an unquestioned life, then this is not the movie for you, so stay home and drink beer.

THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW IN AMERICA!

    ATLAS SHRUGGED: PART 2

    WHO IS JOHN GALT?

This is a must see movie that will open your eyes to the U.S. Governments systematic erosion of your constitutional rights and their ultimate goal of controlling your every movement and act in life. By the simple act the government will control you by starvation by their control over land and farming which is now beginning.

Before our Congress in the Senate, is a bill right now, that would end your right to sell your own personal belongings forever.

Loved the movies honesty and openness in showing the true nature of the beast known as "GOVERNMENT"! Make sure your young family members see this and know what it means to them should we allow our government to continue unchecked.

    Wake up America!

    Watch this film and learn!

Understand that the government is your greatest enemy!

If there were a ten star rating for movies I would give this one twenty stars!

A Must-See Movie for All Americans

Film was a great continuation. Story was very entertaining -- did not overdo the overt messages but they were there through the movie's first half. As the government oppression on business got more stringent, the reaction from key characters became more blunt, as would be expected. It is just hard for us -- used to the liberty and freedom we take for granted -- to really grasp that kind of society, even when laid out for us in a movie. Much of the populace responded, understood their plight but was it too late? I would like to have seen a little more interaction with average people in that society, rather than just demonstrations in the street. Miss the original actors in key roles but the ones this time around are talented and engaging. Wish Part III was coming next week.
Wonder how much more fertile the ground is amongst the public this time, after another year of this administration and Congress, and how it might affect the election. Is the light dawning in enough minds?

    Government is the problem

The movie does as good as it can with keeping up with the detail of the book. The characters seem more realistic than in part one. Dagney appears more as I envisioned here (In part one she was, well, too attractive/young) Hank seemed more like a hardened steel mill owner than in part one. The moochers and looters all seemed to be well chosen by the producers. They've even chose to get the "wet nurse" involved with this production. Love the movie, will buy the blue ray when it its available.

    Tautly produced and fast paced

This film is done in the tradition of the romantically idealized style that provides larger than life characters acting in the real world to project the possible outcomes in our society if the producers of goods and ideas go on strike. You dont have to accept the ideology to appreciate the marriage of science fiction to inftellectual, romantic as well as real world themes with heroes, villains and go-alongs... Well directed and balanced in casting, production values and musical scoring. Like movies that come out of the heroic graphic novel world today, characters are sharply etched and you have to buy in to the effects and premise in order to appreciate it. It is a view of life not commonly found on the popular movie screen. Good for all ages that would enjoy an adventure movie.

Not Surprised the Critics Panned It

The movie is an undated adaptation of the fiction book written 55 years ago by Ayn Rand and is ultimately going to be in three parts (this was the second). It does a very good job of presenting the view of economics that many of us believe in and does that by telling a story that depicts what many of us think is in store for our country. Definitely not the movie for many people. But others will greatly enjoy it and will be eagerly awaiting the third part. The critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 0% rating, but the audiences give it an 82% rating. Due to the fact that the movie is extremely right-wing on economics (but not social issues), and due to the fact that the budget was quite low ($20 million), there was a lot for the critics to dis and people like myself to like (strong advocacy for rational self-interest and capitalism) and a lot to respect (on that kind of budget, they did an amazing job). Had to choose between this and Taken 2. Glad I went to this one.

    Atlas Shrugged part 2

Thought it was very pointed to what could possibly happen in America right now. I think first of all Ayn Rand was a true visionary, but more importantly it is what is happening in our country right now. Well acted, you didn't actually have to see Part 1 to understand Part 2.

    Great Movie!!

What a message this movie sends to us during these terrible times. Ayn Rand's classic was a terrifying prediction of times to come, and what happens when people lose there sense of personal responsiblity, feeling entitled to being taken care of from cradle to grave. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely!!"

If you missed Atlas Shrugged I, rent or buy it and then GO SEE THIS AMAZING FILM!

WAKE UP AMERICA... BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!

    Atlas Shrugged II

Sometimes, parts 2 or 3 of anything can leave you just wanting to see the original again and not bother with its sequel. Atlas Shrugged II however, does not fall into that category.
Although changes in the original actors were evident, you quickly accepted these new persons fulfilling the character parts in true fashion and with conviction. It doesn't take long at all to accept the new Hank and Dagney!
Part 2 lived up to the book in every fashion and left me with egarness to see the final chapter.
Who is John Galt? He's each of us who loves freedom. He's each of us who wear a uniform to defend our country. He's each of us who question authority and stick by the rules when the rules make real sense. He is and should always be those of us who will do all within our power to make sure that America stays the "shining city on a hill" that most people in the world look up to. He is us! Stand up for the America that Ayn Rand embraced and loved and wrote her warning book about.
