The best

Judy in her prime. This is one of her best, if not the best, works of art. One day I hope the lost footage comes to light and can be added back in. But even without, it's amazing. She should have won the Oscar!

A STAR is reBORN

Judy Garland's A STAR IS BORN is not only the definitive version of the oft-told story of a young woman's climb to the top of fame while her has-been husband spirals downward, but it is also one of the best vehicles ever to showcase her triple-threat prowess on screen! Some incredibly magical moments emerge as she gets sucked into the Hollywood machine, is transformed and is launched into stardom. Along the way we also have the pleasure of watching her sing great hits like "The Man that Got Away" and "Born in a Trunk". The incomparable George Cukor masterfully directs this gorgeous-looking MGM love letter and gets outstanding performances from the supporting cast including Jack Carson and the always stellar James Mason as the alcoholic husband! Beware the 1970s remake with Babs and stick with this quintessential version!
