This is the most authentic movie I have ever seen. The director Ben Affleck made you feel like you were in the 1970's. The suspense had me on the edge of my seat. I lived in Tehran in the 70's and this movie brought back all of the memories. We had groups all over the US that lived in Tehran go to see the movie this weekend.

Ben Affleck has made a movie that is tense and very suspenseful, even knowing the ultimate outcome. The production qualities are terrific. The audience clapped at the end and many didn't rush out soon as the credits came up. How he wasn't nominated by AMPAS for the best director Oscar is beyond me.

The fillm, based on real events, was smartly written and well-acted. It was tense, but had moments of humor as well. What a rarity - a smart movie for adults!

Terrific picture. Edge of your seat excitement even though you know how it ends before you even buy your ticket. Not for kids because of language and some graphic I images.

While the story was interesting and there were other good actors in the film, I wish Affleck, as director, had put someone else in the starring role. The real guy was Hispanic; Antonio Mendez.. Couldn't Affleck have found an Hispanic actor for this role?! Affleck was wooden, depressed and macho. In scenes where he was the undercover leader, trying to pass as a Canadian filmmaker in front of the Iranians, he looked frightened and suspicious. The camera lingered on his face too many times and, as he was the director, it reinforced my sense that this was mostly a vanity project for him. While based on a true story, much was fictionalized, and so I had mixed feelings about the addition of news footage of President Carter and others of the time weighing in on the project.
