This is a MUST SEE movie. Well done with kudos to Ben Aflick who both directed and acted in this suspense filled drama about the 1979 US embassy hostage crisis in Iran. It is a winner. At the end of the move everyone in my theater was clapping with some on their feet. How often does that happen???

Ben Affleck's best film to date. Very intelligent and well-crafted, solid performances, nicely paced and quite riveting. Ben Affleck delivered on screen and off in his role as Tony Mendez and in the director's chair. This is a movie that definitely lives up to the hype.

The fillm, based on real events, was smartly written and well-acted. It was tense, but had moments of humor as well. What a rarity - a smart movie for adults!

I had visited Iran in 1977 and had married an Iranian soon after that. I certainly went through the taking of hostages ordeal...but, here in the USA, thank goodness. This movie brought back memories of SAVAK and the Shah of Iran. I remember being told not to say anything BAD nor anything GOOD about the Shah...or I might disappear. This was during GOOD TIMES, when the Shah was there. I totally felt the terror and tenseness that these people felt. It was a very uncomfortable feeling to be there, even in GOOD TIMES. Ben Aflack did a MAGNIFICENT job both acting and directing this movie. I don't know why he was not nominated for his Direction in this movie. All actors did a FABULOUS acting job. I really enjoyed the movie. It kept me at the edge of my seat at the end of the movie...and kept my interest throughout.
