    Worth It!

I went with my two pre-teen children and they loved the film. The film footage is breath-taking and heart-breaking. The movie has a message, but it is not pushed on you. The viewer comes to the natural conclusion that something is wrong in the environment - it's called global-warming.

I wanted to know where Seela and Nanu are now!

Go see it or rent it. There are two sad scenes that very young or sensitive children might find difficult.

    Good, but not Bambi

The plot, which follows the life of a female polar bear from birth to to her giving birth, is as thin as the ham in an Irish sandwich, and as predictable as hot weather in Phoenix in July. This weakness is more than compensated for by superb photography, which carries the message. The Arctic ice, upon which the lives of these animals depend, is melting. Queen Latifah is disappointing as narrator. Unlike Morgan Freeman sober, somber "Penguins," Queen is light, sassy and often distracting. The musical score sometimes fits and often misses. Offsetting Queen and the music, however, is the brief and brilliant postscript, featuring individual grade schoolers, each with an individual but related message. They pack more punch in four minutes than Queen does in 92. These last four minutes and the hour and a half of stunning images by National Geographic photographers, make Arctic Tale worth seeing.

    Artic Tale

One of the best wildlife movies I've seen (and I've seen a lot). Beautiful photography, heartwarming stories, and a message about how we are all connected to each other. A must see for people of all ages and especially children.

A Kid-Friendly, Fun and Educational Movie.

My 2 1/2 year old nephew and I enjoyed this movie very much. It was visually stimulating enough to hold his attention the whole time, and the narration was simple and dynamic enough that he even caught some of the story. I was very impressed with the tameness of it - while they show that animals rely on killing other animals for food, they do not show anything that would disturb a child. And the emphasis on the effects of global warming is very moving. Take your kids to see this film!

    It packs a punch

We went to see this movie because I needed to fill some summer afternoon time with my six year old son, who has been playing hard and staying up too late. The only thing I'd read about it was that it was like "An Inconvenient Truth" for kids. And I knew it had cute polar bears, which my son loves.
I had taken him to see "March of the Penguins", which I loved but he found waaaaay too slow, so I didn't know if we'd last. My fears were foundless, though, as we were both captivated by the incredible cinematography, the life or death story, and the humor. And the cute polar bears. Oh, and the farting walruses. (Did I mention I have a six year old boy?) The narration, by Queen Latifah is flawless. She gently guides us from the nitty gritty to the bust-a-gut funny effortlessly.
Oh, and the message? The filmmakers are clearly passionate about their subject, and this film could have a huge impact on the next generation of "consumers".
Wouldn't that be a great thing?

Important Message for Children of All Ages

    by Ortrud

While the filmmakers may have been targeting children with their G rating and cute images of baby animals, they send a wake up call to all of us to recognize that if we don't take action soon, our polar ice regions are in serious danger of being obliterated. I applaud Ms. Robertson and Mr. Ravetch for enduring years in the harshness of the arctic to chronicle the life cycles of the walrus and the polar bear. The images they capture of these magnificent creatures in their habitat - both on land and under water - are beyond compare.

If you can't find this film in theatres, don't miss it on DVD!

Fascinating, great for kids + adults

A very compelling documentary and it was well-done, amazing cinematography and a very important story to tell about global climate change and how it affects these amazing animals. Much recommended. I don't know why there were so few people in the theater. Go now!

    Great wildlife

    by om4200

This is a wonderful look at polar bear and walrus life - most likely in the very north of Canada (didn't look like areas east where I have been). Great shots - extremely close up - of walruses and polar bears. Having been among such creatures, the movie was a wonderful reminder of these fantastic creatures.

It's a little hokey. Yes, the creatures face threats from global warming. But, they have always faced threats, and life is hard up there altogether.

    Worth watching

As usual, great camera work from the National Geographic team. This movie has an acceptably well-written narration, with a narrowly adequate delivery from Queen Latifah. A great movie for families, or perhaps a date.

After watching this, you should rent Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth'.

    Arctic Tale

This was by far the best movie I've seen this year. Very educational & emotional. Showing a polar bears' existence from birth puts a somewhat human meaning to their life. We cried, we laughed and we sat in awe. Wished this movie was playing in more theaters.

    Beautiful filming

What a nice family movie. I don't like graphic killing scenes and that was not shown. You knew what was going to happen, but did not have to see it, graphically.

If you see this movie...........PLEASE, stay for the credits. Children pop on to tell YOU how you can save the earth and make a difference.

This movie sends a powerful and truthfull message.

    Cute!

    by lodner1

Was a fun family movie. Enjoyed very much. Queen Latifah's narration was exceptional. While entertaining it was also educating on global warming and that we really need to stop ignoring the problem.

    Not bad...

I wouldn't personally recommend seeing this movie in the theater. It was a decent movie that raised the awareness of what people are doing to the environment, but I don't believe it was worth paying the price of a movie ticket.
