Arbitrage?????

Overrated and underdone. Title does not refer to any part of the movie. or "Dirty Stuff".Lead character is a real dunderhead. Movie is in 2 parts. First part is an accident coverup and second part relates slightly to a bad trade that results in the usual losses completely unrelated to arbitrage.Acting is okay but nothing unusual. Sex scenes are standard. A better tile for the movie might be " Unhappy Margin" or "Dirty Stuff." Either one tells part of the story better than the original title.

Richard Gere at his best as he dips, dives & squirms out of 1 mess right into another. He never loses his cool as his life threatens to collapse around him & seems to thrive on it. Well acted & a plot that keeps you on your toes. Loved the movie - especially the ending....

"Arbitrage" - A great movie for grown-ups. The old Gerbil-meister gives a wonderful performance as a bad bad man - harkening back to his performance in "An Officer and a Gentleman." And the conclusion of the film is all too real. Susan Sarandon, Tim Roth, and the supporting cast are all great and the soundtrack is gorgeous. This film will be nominated for Academy Awards.

What a horribly disappointing ending to a otherwise brilliant, exciting and well acted film. This movie is still worth seeing even though it leaves the audience in disbelief!

THOSE INVOLVED IN THE WORLD OF FINANCE WILL BE BEWILDERED BY THE MISINTERPRETED LINGO. RICHARD GERE GIVES ANOTHER GENUINE PERFORMANCE AS THE SOMEWHAT SHIFTY "ROBERT MILLER".

"Arbitrage" is the simultaneous buying and selling of a security at two different prices in two different markets, resulting in profits without risk." It is NOT illegal and this film does NOT address "arbitrage"... Predictably, the successful capitalist is untoward, manipulative, earning his ill-gotten wealth, not by skill and ingenuity but subterfuge, fraud. Devastatingly handsome Richard Gere is "Robert Miller" the "master of the universe" , the "rainmaker", the hedge-fund king whose "Midas touch" is in jeopardy of turning bronze; Gere imbues the character with enough smarmy charm and sagacity to captivate the viewer. Reminiscent of "Bonfire of the Vanities" an adulterous affair could result in his undoing; nevertheless a streak of the humane saves "Robert" from drowning in moral turpitude... TWO & 1/2 STARS!! ***For full review please visit peneflix (dot) com!!!
