A Perfect MatchSynopsis

Dutch director Miel van Hoogenbemt's gentle and slightly ironic romantic comedy A Perfect Match stars actor Jan Decleir (Antonia's Line) as Leopold Vossius, a widower who has retired from his longtime job as a schoolteacher. Faced with hours of solitude, Leopold accepts the aggressive prompting of a neighbor, Julien, to find a new wife on the internet. Numerous candidates crop up who all seem to be perfect matches for Leopold - making the choice of a mate supremely difficult. When Leopold begins going out with them, however, he discovers that all of the candidates have bizarre eccentricities. Throughout, he maintains that all he wants is a partner who can help him maintain his ordered and predictable lifestyle. Then a new housekeeper, Alina, turns up; to Leopold's horror, she not only destroys one prospective romantic liaison after another, but turns the house into a veritable bedlam of chaos, ruining everything she lays her hands on. In the process, Alina stirs up feelings in Leopold that neither can even begin to anticipate. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
