    An Unlikely Weapon

    by Rich S

Ho Hum. I really expected to like this movie, a kind of documentary of a very versatile and apparently heroic photographer that was self narrated and kinda rambling. The self denigrating statements by a man who is/was obviously a narcissist par excellance simply wouldn't float. In fact the commentary by other photographers, employers and admirers tended to increase the tension between what the viewer knew about him via his product [widely published images] and what was revealed in this movie. Basically the MO of people like this is cruelty and betrayal. Waitng to be praised and then denying the basis for the praise is hard to watch even if he does dress and talk contrarism. Not a lot of his work is actually on display in the film and too much of his "philosophy" is made available to support what little there is. To its credit this flick will authentically transport you back through time via indelible memories.
