Yiannis Voglis stars in this politically themed drama from Greek director Panos Papakyriakopoulos which examines the difficulties faced by a political refugee when he returns to what he thinks is a different system after three decades abroad. Professor D.M. (Voglis) has built a successful academic career at a French university since 1946, but decides to return to Greece in 1976 after the fall of the Junta in order to help pave the road for his country in its first tentative steps toward a democratic government. It isn't as easy as he imagines, however, when his first proposals at educational reform slide through with nary a complaint. Before too long, D.M. is the subject of scathing attacks, his personal life is turned upside-down, and duplicity and treachery surround him at every turn, leaving him finally alone, unable to beat a system intent on changing at its own rate and in its own time.
