This offbeat movie premiered at Sundance 2011 and blew minds. I was among the audience and there was a genuine sense of awe at the end. Tender, touching performances and even-handed direction give "Another Earth" a leg up over the usual film fest fare. Brit Marling is phenomenal. She has the potential to be her generation's Meryl Streep.

Obviously this film is not a mainstream release and it would be hard to imagine a wider theatrical distribution in its future since it is a rare, almost unique composition, not often the type embraced by general audiences. The tone of the film is subdued, the plot cerebral, but don't let that fool you. There's more here than meets the eye. Is it a good movie? Yes. Is it worth the price of a ticket? Yes. Is it for everyone? No. This is because character study is a difficult thing for kids (and an awful lot of adults) to grasp. Add to this the minor cultural differences between the Australian audience (for which it was made) and our own. There's nothing objectionable in it, save the mildly graphic depiction of an accident and one very tasteful sexual encounter. Mid-teens and above would be fine as far as viewing is concerned. Would the broader concepts portrayed herein appeal to or entertain them? You'd be the better judge. See it. You won't be disappointed.

I had been waiting to watch this film for quite a while now. And it was one of the most beautifulest plots I have ever seen! Completely original script and it keeps you intrigued through out the entire movie. I highly recommend this film to anybody who loves second chances in life.
