My major problem with this version and the only comparison between the original is the lack of suspense. Suspense is created when the viewer actually cares about the outcome for the protaganist. In this version I could not care less what happened to Nancy. The acting was stale and left me wanting to carfe what happened next, but there was no way. Besides Quentin, I did not care who got butchered. My other problem is Jackie. I have respect for him and this role did not match his talent in my opinion. He just seemed to be going through the motions. I guess an upside would be the change in direction of the story. at least it wasn't a complete scene by scene thief of the original. Sorry Craven, I think you got robbed.

woooooow iv been so nevious about watching this movie the last few days cause i was afraid it was not going to be as good as it looked. that definatley proved me wrong!!!! the remake absoulutaly blew me away. evry one in the theter was terrified throghout the entir movie its a constant thrill ride that does not give you any time to get prepared and take a breather for the next part to come... another thing that woried me is that robert was not playing freddy!!!! but jackie did an amazing job portraying freedy no one else could have broght life back to freddy better than JACKIE EARL HALEY he was the perfect freddy and his voice made it even more terrifing AMAZING if your a fan of the originols like me trust me when i say this film does not dissapoint!!!!!

WELL LET'S SEE THEY REMADE FRIDAY THE 13TH AND IT SUCKED BIG TIME NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL AND JACKIE EARL HAILY REALLY !! THIS GUY SUCKED IN WATCHMEN. AS FREDDY KRUGER I HOPE HE SHOWS A LITTLE TALENT. WES CRAVEN AND ROBERT THE ONE TRUE FREDDY KRUGER. WERE NOT EVEN CONSULTED FOR THIS MOVIE IT WILL PROBABLY BE A DISGRACE BUT AS A DIE HARD FREDDY FAN I WILL GO AND SEE IF IT IS ANY GOOD. AND THEN COMPLAIN AFTERWARD. I OWN ALL OF THE NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREETS AND FREDDY'S NIGHTMARES IT JUST SAD THAT THEY DID NOT ASK ROBERT IF HE WANTED TO PLAY FREDDY( DISRESPECTFUL)

...but I am rating it high for refraining from sex and nudity, something that most horror movies give in to all too easily. It wasn't bad. Just not suspenseful and although I like other work of Jackie Earle, freddy's look and dialogue pretty much made me laugh, not the clever humor from the original, more like a 5th grader gave him a last minute line. It would have been awesome if they'd expanded on the micro nap idea. Also, the mom....what?.....pitiful part and actress.Kyle Gallner did ok,but much better in Haunting in Conn. Will spend money once more,as I love supporting movies that use story instead of gratuitous skin and sex.
