Sufficient cheap thrills and enough of the prevailing camp quality. Read full review

It's one of those "I-can't-believe-I'm-enjoying-this" kind of things. Read full review

A highly entertaining movie assured of its genre-jumping potential. Read full review

    Variety | Scott Foundas

Sublimely trashy, this conceptual sequel to 1997's surprise hit, "Anaconda," doesn't expect to be taken any more seriously than its schlock predecessor, and keeps its tongue-in-cheek thrills flowing rapidly. Read full review

Still manages to one-up its predecessor, 1997's unintentionally campy "Anaconda." Read full review

The New York Times | Dave Kehr

A programmer that once upon a time would have played on the bottom half of double bills, Anacondas has no pretensions and gets its little job done effectively, providing some small-scale laughs and chills for the late summer season. Read full review

Competent formula entertainment, but doesn't make that leap into pure barminess that inspired "Anaconda." Read full review

At least director Dwight Little (Free Willy 2) gives us enough B-movie speed to keep Orchid from becoming a fountain of aging. Read full review

There's no enjoyably outlandish hiss to this variation on the formula, and no Ice Cube or Owen Wilson, either. This time, a ship of capitalist fools (and no movie stars, unless you count utility player Morris Chestnut as a headliner) steams along the river in Borneo. Read full review

San Francisco Chronicle | Carla Meyer

The sequel might have the formula down, but it lacks everything that made "Anaconda'' fun. Read full review

Information for Parents
Common Sense Media says Not for kids 15 and under How on earth did this sequel ever get made?
What Parents Need to Know Parents need to know that this movie is filled with nightmare material for kids -- the snakes are huge and terrifying. There are many close-ups of the snakes' mouths right before they swallow someone whole. In many of the action scenes, the anaconda regurgitates a body, leaving it hanging in trees, covered in what looks like saliva and blood.
  • Families can talk about the greed the characters initially feel, as well as the team's search for a fountain of youth. Would you want to live forever? Why or why not? The snakes in the film are computer generated. Are real anacondas actually that big?
The good stuff
  • message true0 Positive messages: In the beginning, almost every character is obsessed with money and the idea of becoming a billionaire.
What to watch for
  • violence false5 Violence: Many extremely tense scenes. There's a scene of a dead snake that has been sliced open in the mid-section of its body. In this open section is a human corpse hanging out, covered with blood, flies, and the like.
  • sex false3 Sex: A couple of shots of a male's bare chest, a reference to a boat as "ugly, but she puts out" and references to having a one night stand.
  • language false3 Language: Some strong language.
  • consumerism false0 Consumerism: Not an issue
  • drugsalcoholtobacco false3 Drinking, drugs and smoking: A bar scene in which a couple of characters drink and smoke.
