We attended a film festival for children when we saw this movie in 3d. Our kids are 4 and 6. While we adults enjoyed it, I felt the romantic parts like the kissing, and the scarier parts, like the shadowy figures, screaming, guns / shooting, and dramatic music were a bit intense for their age. The only language that stood out as inappropriate was the multiple use of the word "idiot". I would recommend it for families with older children, at least 8 and over.

A Monster in Paris is, hands down, one of the loveliest movies I've ever seen. It's quirky and interesting, with some surprises. The characters are quite true to life, the dialogue is fresh and amusing, and the story itself is just lovely - brisk but also sentimental. There's plenty of action going on throughout, it isn't slow or boring anywhere, and the animation has been beautifully done. The soundtrack is gorgeous, with the main numbers delivered by Vanessa Paradis and Sean Lennon. I always rate movies on a "buy" or "don't buy" basis for myself, and this is absolutely a 'buy' movie. I can't wait 'til it comes out on DVD.
