Emmi (Melinda Major) is a woman who becomes obsessed with the love affair that took place between her grandmother and a Polish man during the summer of 1939 after she discovers old love letters and a 16mm film of the couple on the beach. Laszlo, who is a projectionist for the Budapest Film Institute, becomes enamoured with the young woman and promptly dumps his fiancée to help Emmi on her quest.
