A tribute to the power of refusing to succumb to fear
An amazing accomplishment! Despite it's star power in Angelina Jolie, this film is about Mariane Pearl -- her relationship with her husband, her commitment to her profession as a journalist, her anguish as well as her relentless investigation into his whereabouts while Daniel was missing, her connections with the many people who joined the team desperately searching for her husband. The film is a tribute to both Mariane and Daniel, and to the power of refusing to succumb to fear. Technically, the film is well made although the switching back and forth in time, in location, as well as between the significant and the mundane; was confusing near the beginning of the film. There are many messages that can be taken from this film, although none are blatantly thrown at the viewer. The acting is brilliant through-out. If you are looking for mindless entertainment, this is not the movie to see. For thinking people, for those who are aware of world politics, this is an excellent film.
