    Well done

I really liked this movie, I love a "true story" & this was faithful to pull me into their lives just like good movies should. I had a feeling that they would have to make this political, but they didn't so I was really able to get into it. It was believably acted. It seems rude to say since this woman lived this nightmare, but at a point the movie feels a little long because it was pretty cut & dried, he was kidnapped, they looked for him, they have a few wild goose chases, they learn of his murder. I think it would be very hard to make that all work for a whole entire movie. But it was definitely worth seeing & the song at the end is incredible. The soundtrack was very good as well.

    Educational Drama

    by karipei

The movie is a docudrama, but the educational benefits of the situation abroad are so important. The relationships between the local people and the foreigners are more cooperative than I would have imagined, based on our media's reporting. These people who risked their lives and/or careers to help Marianne and Danny Pearl are not who we hear about in the U.S. The tragic story is beautifully crafted. The acting, writing and directing of this movie is all done with care, integrity and passion thus, conveying a tender story and, at the same time intensely gripping.

    A Mighty Heart

First of all, I want to say that I genuinely liked this film. And I have the utmost respect, sympathy, and admiration for the real Mariane Pearl who is a paragon of strength and stoicism. Nevertheless, I was somewhat disappointed with this adaptation due to the disjointed nature of the narrative which effectively reflects the hustle and bustle of Karachi street scenes teeming with cars, pedestrians, beggars, street vendors, etc. But its fragmented story line and footage is often hard to follow--particularly in the beginning--leaving the viewer a bit confused at times especially if he or she is not familiar with the intricate details of Pearl's harrowing experience. I also wanted to know a little more about Daniel as a person, i.e., his social concerns, political views, and work as a journalist. And I would have appreciated more in-depth information about the chronology and sequence of events that led to his ultimate capture and fateful demise.

    Worth it!

    by gebo

Pretty interesting movie. I only went to see this movie because I have seen Mariane Pearl being interviewed and think she had and has an amazing outlook on the whole situation. I was pleasantly surprised to see Jolie pull it off. It definitely kept my attention the whole time, and awake! And there was more to the story than what was reported by the media then...how can that be??

    A Mighty Heart

Good direction, excellent mise-en-scene, an interesting an exciting story. However, Daniel Pearl's character was was developed only minimally prior to his kidnapping so that it was hard to understand the uniqueness of his loss in a personal sense. As a result, the movie became, to some extent, a vehicle for Angelina Jolie. Not that that's so bad! Overall my wife and I enjoyed the film quite a bit.

    PAINFULLY REAL

This movie is so realistic you feel you are part of the tremendous humanity wandering around the streets, the beggars, the overflowing busses...one can feel the pain in Marianne"s heart in the uncertainty of her husband's life, half believing he will eventually be saved and the other half trying to accept the truth that he may not return...we all had felt the same sorrow...Angelina's show of control of her feelings in the midst of chaos and the eventual flood of horror and helplessness was so heart wrenching...so hard to watch...no one can ever forget the scene of her total abandon of hope and a broken heart..

    A Mighty Heart

Angelina Jolie moves up the ladder of outstanding Hollywood stars. She is capable of showing extreme emotions and also being solid. Her use of one word, no, brings out the most emotion I have ever seen from her.

    Mighty Heart - Mighty Intense

    by arose

I left this film not being able to speak really . It was powerful and honest and superbly done. It's an in your face reminder of how crazy and divided our world is and how seemingly worse it's getting to be. M Pearl is a woman of great strength and A Jolie did a wonderful job portraying her.

    Touching Story

This was a very sad story, but very well done. Angelina jolie was great as david pearl's widow. she was meant to play the part.At times, the movie dragged a bit,but it was very intense and kept your attention throughout. it was definitely worth a "go" rating.

Intense Closeup of Terrorism in Pakistan

Well-acted, almost a documentary of the tragedy of Daniel Pearl's murder. If you are interested in the struggle in Pakistan this is very realistic. Also shows the sacrifice journalists make to bring us in depth news. Angelina Jolie does an excellent job as Mariane Pearl. Left me wondering if there was something I could do to help relieve the tension in the area.

A tribute to the power of refusing to succumb to fear

An amazing accomplishment! Despite it's star power in Angelina Jolie, this film is about Mariane Pearl -- her relationship with her husband, her commitment to her profession as a journalist, her anguish as well as her relentless investigation into his whereabouts while Daniel was missing, her connections with the many people who joined the team desperately searching for her husband. The film is a tribute to both Mariane and Daniel, and to the power of refusing to succumb to fear. Technically, the film is well made although the switching back and forth in time, in location, as well as between the significant and the mundane; was confusing near the beginning of the film. There are many messages that can be taken from this film, although none are blatantly thrown at the viewer. The acting is brilliant through-out. If you are looking for mindless entertainment, this is not the movie to see. For thinking people, for those who are aware of world politics, this is an excellent film.

A Mighty Heart Disappoints -- But Still Barely Worth Seeing for Jolie

Angelina Jolie is a great actress generally and Michael Winterbottom is a fantastic director generally, but that's not saving this cold, removed movie. This was a very held-back performance. The script was okay but not really great. I love Winterbottom's direction usually so I was surprised to be disappointed. The real flaw in this movie was that I didn't feel a chemistry between Jolie and Futterman, and I didn't feel the "heart" behind the movie. And it was as though, out of respect for Daniel Pearl and his wife Marianne, the creators of the movie wanted to stay true to Marianne's vision, which made for a weaker than could be expected movie. The danger of knowing the outcome of a movie is that you can't rely on plot to keep the audience emotionally engaged. You must have a great script with great performances. And the actors have to give something. The only actors who gave something in this movie, I felt, were Archie Panjabi and the little girl whose mother mopped the floors.

    Fabulous

The reason I only gave it a Go instead of a Must Go! is because I am not an expert on these types of movies. I prefer Romantic Comdies. But, I loved the change. I was constantly at the edge of my seat and was surprised that I was able to follow something that complex. Well Done!!! Ms. Jolie was great!
