Wish it was an HBO series. Didn't want it to end!

What a wild ride. American Hustle is like that mysteriously sexy lover you found out was batsh*t crazy only after you were hooked. I've seen just about every award nominated film of 2013 from "The Butler" to "12 Years", "Gravity" to "Nebraska," but this was the only movie I didn't want to end. The cast is busting at the seams with Oscar nominees (many the director recycled from his past Oscar flicks: Cooper/Lawrence in "Silver Linings Playbook"; Adams/Bale in "The Fighter.") What really sets this film apart is its originality--it's a bizarre, hilarious mess of awesomeness with no cliches in sight. The characters are charming slime-balls you'll fall over yourself for. Keep your wits about you around Amy Adam's devilish character--she's perpetually flashing side-boob.

Highly entertaining! Christian Bale was fantastic in his role so different from anything he has ever done. There really wasn't a moment that lagged in this movie. It had a lot of action without the usual violence. Highly recommend.

One of the most stylishly, flawlessly, executed motion pictures in years!

This is a masterpiece from writer/director David O. Russell. He takes his game to a Scorsese-like level with this film about con-artists, federal agents, political corruption and mobsters and start to finish, this is captivating, thought-provoking, intricate, powerful and has something no other film in 2013 has: style straight out of the 70s. The cast is one of the best this year. David O. Russell brought his all-stars together and they delivered performances of the highest caliber. Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and even the cameo from Robert DeNiro were all awesome! I'll be rooting for this movie to win every major award it is nominated for. Just flawlessly executed in practically every dimension in terms of writing, directing, editing, cinematography, acting; American Hustle had it all!

Good acting but way too slow and drawn out

Have no idea why someone would use the word "comedy" in conjunction with this movie. There was very little of anything that was funny. The plot twist was unimaginative. The actors did a good job but the lousy screenplay left me wanting much more for my entertainment dollar.

Delicious romp through the hair, clothes and attitudes of the late 1970's, with elements of "The Sting" thrown in for good measure

Totally engrossing from start to finish - who is hustling who? The plot revolves around a couple of small time con artists (Adams, Bale) who get caught up in the much bigger con of "Abscam." As the movie helpfully notes in the opening titles, "Some of the events depicted in this film actually happened." Just when I thought Hollywood was DONE with character development, here are 4 perfectly turned out characters. Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence vamp from scene to scene in slit to the navel Halston dresses, while Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale follow close behind. The hair! The gold chains! The wide ties in clashing patterns! The microwave oven! (What?)
