    How does Almodovar do it?How can he come up with highly original movies he not only directs,but writes,every few years?All About My Mother is a funny,touching,dramedy that is so masterful,I can see why it won Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.Cecilia Roth is sensational as Manuela,but Penelope Cruz has a star making turn in here that should have won her a few awards.The film is very original,and should be seen by anyone who hasn't ASAP.

    Pedro Almodovar's ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER is an utterly facsinating celebration of the perseverance of femenine spirit in the face of love, tragic death, reunion, and returning to one's own roots. Cecilia Roth is amazing as Almodovar's heroine who after losing her teenage son, revisits her homeland to come to terms with her identity. Along the way she reaquaints herself with an old friend who is a transexual and bonds with a young nun played by the luminous Penelope Cruz. Truly draing cinema here as only Almodovar can create. Very absurd black humor naturally comes through often to enliven the drama. A real winner!
