My husband and I enjoyed the movie alot. I thought Tyler did a wonderful job playing a character as an educated detective something a little different than Madea. I think Tyler will be the upcoming Denzel Washington. Tyler Perry has proven he is capable of being more than just Madea although Madea is loved by many, I think Tyler's fans will embrace his mor serious roles. God Bless you Tyler.......

I am a huge fan of Tyler Perry so I may be a little partial when writing this review. I thought it was a good movie. Would it be one you just absolutely have to see at the theater, no. But I am always willing to support Tyler Perry's productions and I have no regrets going to the theater to see it. He played an action roll and I thought it was well put together.

I was very excited when I saw the trailers for Alex Cross as I'm a James Patterson fan. I listen to the books on cd or audio books from the library and enjoy them immensely. Tyler Perry did a great job as Alex Cross and I believe plenty of people will be pleasantly surprised. I have no idea what the critics are talking about and why they chose to bash this movie so bad, but I would highly recommend disregarding everything that they have said and pay attention to word of mouth and fan reviews instead! It had a good plot, great action, good acting and was funny and sad at times. The cast was great--most notably, Matthew Fox, Edward Burns, and Cicely Tyson. It had a nice twist at the end that I didn't see coming either. Matthew Fox brought to mind for me many of the crazy killers in Alex Cross novels. He was a total bad*ss in this movie. Great ending too! I loved it!

Ok. I loved the original two movies and my wife and I were looking forward to this one coming out. We figured we could get over Tyler Perry being a replacement for Freeman but it just didn't do it. Leave him to producing and directing movies, acting isn't his gig ... sorry.
Now for Matthew Fox. We liked him in the TV series Lost but he failed at the part of the villain; he completely overacted the part. He looked the part physically but trying to play a crazed psycho skinhead killer just isn't his part.
Overall it was mildly entertaining and I loved the CTS-V Coupe that Fox drove but other than that I'd recommend others to pass this in the movie theaters and only rent if they are desperate for some mild action.
