    One word... Predictable!

So yeah, I really like Tyler Perry's theater plays and religious movies, I really enjoy them. I really wanted to see him in this type of film to see how he does, but I think I had a hard time since I paid too much attention on his Madea character coming out of him in every scene. I couldn't help but say "ha that's madea", like in the scene where he first confronts mr. Lost guy. I mean it was such a major scene that I barely got excited. I felt it needed way more action, I felt that the villain needed more something, the film itself lacked the edge of your seat feel.

Alex Cross ... This Is Not

    by Darkola

The Good: Matthew Fox playing the bad guy "The Butcher" did an incredible job, scenes with him in it drew your attention, the way he acted, his expressions, and his plans and the way he executed them.
The Bad: Everything else, this movie should have never used the name Alex Cross in it, as its a disappointment to all the books out there that were well written, and to previous movies like Kiss The Girls" and "Along Came A Spider". The story itself was poorly written, the dialogue was terrible to say the least, the acting ... if thats what you called it was below par, and finally the filming of this. The filming was so bad, that in many parts watching it, the movie was blurry, heads were cut off in scenes, and even towards the end, the fight scene, the camera was really shakey, almost as if it were attached to the catwalk they were fighting on, and bouncing all around and being shaken when the fight was going on. I'd give this 1 1/2 stars out of 4 myself, Wait for the DVD. Enjoy :)

Glad I went because it was great

What comes to mind first is my disappointment in the critics for giving this movie such a low rating. I really don't understand it. I almost didn't go because of their reviews and I'm really just now very conscious that if something seems interesting to me I really just need to go see for myself--particularly if it falls in a genre that is intended to be escapist. The movie had a very good "pace" to it--and that's what I enjoyed most. No wasted time. The action had the right intensity and I was surprised more than once (though this is in no way to suggest the overall plot was "deep" or "unpredictable"). I'm probably one of the few people that didn't go because of Perry or Fox (have never seen them in anything) so maybe that helped that I did not know them in any other context---both were very good in their roles. There is good drama and emotion placed just at the right places. In short, it exceeded expectations. Maybe because the critics had them so low going in.

I really enjoyed the movie, awesome date night movie! Tyler Perry did a solid acting job but Matthew Fox was a scary villain that kept me on the edge of my seat!

    Alex Cross

I can understand WHY the critics would say don't go see it, but I thought it to be really good! I had a couple of twists and turns, I was not expecting one part that happened in the movie (I will not spoil it for you) and the ending was totally not expectant. Good work to the writers and to the producers--Tyler I just want you to find different ways of doing the disgusted face. It just reminded me of when you were on Oprah; find different ways of showing your distaste for something--other than that, great job!!

    This movie keeps you engaged...

This movie was an action packed thriller combined with layers of emotion, suspense, anxiety, and enough twists to keep you guessing throughout. The 'assassin' in the movie was certainly an enigma, one that you watch and cringe at-Matthew Fox delivered a stellar performance as a villain. I thought Tyler Perry did a great job in the detective/doctor role. His emotions, wit, and drive were the perfect combination for the role, and the entire movie flowed seamlessly without distraction from acting as many critics led me to believe before seeing it. The movie as a whole is an excellent piece of work in my opinion, and I would recommend it to anyone I know. One caveat, if you have a weak stomach, some of the scenes can be a bit cringe-worthy, so be forewarned!

Alex Cross is NOT madea! Furthermore, Tyler Perry is NOT Madea

This is an AWESOME movie. Not Tyler Perry's usual funny overcome the tragedy kind of movie. You run through the whole range of emotions as he is chasing and bringing justice to a serial killer/ assassin. Parts of the movie were intense....one part was particularly graphic. Because this wasn't Tyler Perry's signature, it was shockingly intense at times. He did an awesome job! He morphed well from the Drama genre to the Suspense/Action genre. Absolutely riveting!

    Gawd

Unless they were intending to be comically cliche with over-the-top bad acting, this movie was nothing but a vehicle for Cadillac/GM product placements. I was frankly insulted by amateurish overall production until I saw what was supposed to be a gruesome killing that was so stupid I and my friends spontaneously laughed our butts off. There was one short but amusing performance by a bit character and she turned out to be the best thing about it.

Don't stay home. But do see something other than this schlockfest.

    Tyler Perry as Alex Cross

I think TP did a good job in Alex Cross. He challenged himself to do more than the comedy we are used to him being associated with as Madea. He pulled it off. I would love to see him doing more movies as himself. I believe that with his work ethic, he's only gonna get better!

I think this movie was phenomenal! Tyler Perry was great. There was an interesting plot, action packed from beginning to end, and suspenseful. I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie.

Tyler Perry is Alex Cross Personified

My husband and I went to see the movie. We both like Tyler Perry's movies and we both read James Patterson's book so we were looking forward to seeing this movie. I think that the movie is a must see even though it does not follow the book to the letter. I was very pleased with the action, suspense and drama. Please go see it and take someone or a few people with you. As readers of the book and a fan of Tyler Perry, you will find yourselves discussing the movie and book with a sense of enthusiasm. I think Tyler Perry delivered us a modern, sexy and intelligent Alex Cross and I hope Morgan Freeman shares this point of view. He was our first Alex Cross and I think the baton was sucessfully passed on to Tyler Perry.

A Good Change of Direction for Tyler Perry

    by

I really like @tylerperry as an actor. Even though the film was not a MUST GO for me and I know he has had quite a few roles, it was good that Tyler helped shift my paradigm away from his Madea role to show more diversity in his acting ability. What can you say about Matthew fox in his role??? He was one scary dude and did an excellent job... Should get Best Supporting Actor in my opinion. Liked the story line and the cinematography was really good...

    engaging exciting drama thriller

    by nng

this was definitely a good movie- the story was solid and it was like a CSI type movie, but with a better plot and more intriguing storyline. Every minute kept you glued to the screen really. The acting was so-so and semi sub par with some actors/actresses- it just seemed too forced or out there but overall was good. matthew fox as the sociopath was of course surprising going from party of five to freak but still really well done and he I feel did the best job in his role. I had no idea what alex cross was about but it did leave you wanting for another episode of it and cross's adventures. the concept of the 'evil villain' crossing cross and him being the nemesis type was a little too stereotypical straight from the book unoriginal done many times but still overall the movie was very engaging and kept you interested the whole time and wanting to know what happens next. I would recommend to go for sure...
