This is the first time I've been disappointed by a Baz Luhrman production. "Australia" is a movie consisting entirely of melodramatic moments based on tiresome cliches. NIcole Kidman's acting was wooden, but given her character and lines, perhaps it's more the scripts fault than her own. There are a couple of nice moments in the film and Hugh Jackman is terrific as a macho cowboy with a hidden, but tender heart, but overall the film felt tedious. And it was entirely predictable from start to finish. What were you thinking Mr. Luhrman?
