I've been to a few operas in my life, didn't love them. But last night, we went to see L'Elisir d'Amore at Regal Stonecrest Theater in Charlotte, NC. I really enjoyed the live feed aspect of it--from the patrons in NYC entering, finding their seats, sitting and waiting for the curtain to go up while we, too, were doing the same in our theater as were thousands of others around the world, to the behind the scenes interviews with the main characters, with the Met Director, a prop creator and singers in future operas--a coming attractions kind of moment. Loved it! Also loved watching behind the scenes activity as sets were changed between acts. There was an opera star narrating the event, doing the interviews and transitioning acts and breaks and interviews and whose name I do not know, but she did a great job, was genuinely enthusiastic about the performance, the performers, the whole opera scene. My only suggestion is to sub-title names of people a couple of times.
