Having seen 6 or 7 Otello's, I would say this was the best cast as well as a good production that worked. Where they found the Iago I haven't yet read, but he had all the necessary elements (which others had not) for a strong voiced, menacing manipulator. No one I have ever seen approached those elements.even tho the voices were first rate. Good actor too. Botha's voice has become not only stronger, but silkier than when I heard him quite a while ago. Fleming of course, was agitated, but sublimely correct for this, as always. All in All, a good outing for the Met. Would definitely recommend. jcg
