Diva Fleming Desdemona and Johann Botha Otello were superb as was the leering venomous Iago Falk Struckman and his much abused slave wife Emilia...I wanted to scream to her to tell Desdemona what villain Iago had in mind for her. The sets were classy and properly forbidding and shadowed. Verdi's gorgeous music was brought to us with passion and vigor by Semyon Bychkov. All together, very satisfying...My wife and I still look for the bouquets of flowers that formerly flooded the stage at the end of a performance. So... Quite the contrast to the so joyful and gloriously funny triumph of Beautiful Anna Netrebko and Matthew Polenzani in L'Elisir at the beginning of the month.
