While the story sounds a littler silly, even for Veredi's time, the music and interfpretgefers more than compensated forf it. The Met ropotitan debut of Ms. Meade was splendid and the the singing ancd acting performancedx of the bass and baritone were magnificdng. The tenor was rather weak, but then the role as written did not give him much of a chance to shine. All in all, an excellent peformancde and an opportgunity to enjoy a seldom seen opera.++
