Termed a "pastiche" of well-known and not so well-known baroque arias and choruses fit into the Shakespearean plots of The Tempest and Midsummer Night's Dream, last Saturday's matinee performance at nationwide local theaters was a great success, combining great music, operatic drama and wonderful soloists of great renown with a majestic chorus and orchestra.Outstanding were Placido Domingo in two resounding arias. Two counter-tenors singing tender love songs brought these voices to unaccustomed roles in grand opera and the contraltos brought richness to their roles, as well as a youjng bass voice.
