This is not a movie to see for pure entertainment. It addresses theories and facts deduced from the pristine evidence of emerging symbolic human thought and expression over 32,000 years ago. It goes to what made us what we are, as distinguished from Neanderthals who inhabited the same region during roughly the same period. The artistic skill of those who painted the cave images is truly breathtaking, making one think that perhaps one of their lineage gave genetic rise to Michalangelo millenia later. For those who have a strong interest in the origins of species, but who do not have the training or experience to think about it in a suiteably analytic or organized way, this is a must see. For those who have no interest in questions as profound as who came before us, the movie will either be an epiphany or a waste. It is very well done, in any event.
