The lady in front of me in the theater turned to me at intermission and exclaimed, "Aren't we lucky!!" I couldn't agree more. A sparkling and entertaining story was complemented by lovely sets , costumes and staging. Anna Netrebko was stunning in the lead role, her beauty outshone only by her voice. John del Carlo was magnificent as the foolish Don Carlo, and every other singer was breathtaking as well. This is the best bargain in town, a Metropolitan quality opera at a movie price. Don't miss the Met HD productions. They are memorable.
