I thought the IMAX experience was superb. There's no other way to go on this one. Better that the Smithsonian! (My companion's eyes were hurting a little afterward. Me too. But the trade off was worth it. ) This interpretation sported a more edgy tone to the original story -- more conflict among the beasts, more hurts -- tearing off the bird's arm in a minor argument -- seemed modern but unnecessary. I preferred the characters, the sensitivity of a boy growing up and relationship with the mom to be more interesting. The child and the mom were terrific. As were the big galumf beasty pals. In the end a must see.
