On the way out of the movie I turned to my friend and we both agreed there was NO plot. He asked me what it was about I told him it was about an hour and forty minutes. There was non-stop action; chase scenes, bang-bang shoot-em-up, vehicles and helicopters exploding. For some reason Bruce Willis' character was on "vacation" in Russia. His bad boy son turned out to be some type of CIA/Master spy dude. There was a good one moment and bad the next father/daughter team. For some reason everyone was trying to kill everyone else. It ended up in the city of Chernobyl. Why? I don't know. Writing this review was the best part of seeing this movie. If you love action and don' care about plot, rush out and see it now.

If you have ever seen a Die Hard movie you know what to expect. John McClaine gets into another action packed adventure and this time he's with his son. All the snarky one-liners, catchphrases, explosions and crazy car chases are packed in to this father/son bonding experience. If you enjoy a good old fashioned action flick this is for you.

First I want to say that I am a big fan of Die Hard series and when I first heard that they are making a new Die Hard, I was excited! After seeing this film, I left dissatisfied.
Not only it does not feel like a Die Hard, its also not a very good film. The plot SUCKS, the villains are NOT memorable, acting is so-so but 90% of this movie is all shooting and explosions so you can't get a connection with the main characters, AND THE WORST PART OF THIS MOVIE IS THE YIPPE-KAI-YAYMOTHER F***KER WAS NOT EPIC AT ALL! This is the worst Die Hard in this series; yes, even Live Free or Die Hard is even better then this. The only thing that it says it from giving it a OH NO is the action, its average; its alright but its going to sound weird but its way too much.
If you are a Die Hard fan, you will be disappointed! For everyone else, you might or might not like it, I would say to just rant it: you are not missing anything that is a must see. I give a high NO, very close to a SO-SO.

As a huge fan of the entire Die Hard franchise, I can't help but feel let down at this current sequel. This movie lacked the "luster" of previous Die Hard movies that captured the magic of wise-cracking John McClane. Not sure why, but the John McClane in this movie seemed a little less dangerous and thrilling & more like an extra character added to help his son, Jack the CIA agent kick some major Russian a$$.
The normal John McClane humor was off and the storyline failed to capture interest from the beginning like previous Die Hards have. The bad guys didn't seem that bad and the McClanes didn't seem cohesive until near the end of the movie.
On a positive note, the addition of actor Jai Courtney as Jack McClane, John's son, added a new possibility for this franchise to branch off. This guy is easy on the eyes and has all the sparkle and fire of a younger Bruce Willis. At times he was dead-on with his mannerisms of the John McClane character.

I almost skipped A Good Day to Die Hard based on the horrible reviews. I almost missed out on an incredibly fun movie. I'm a big Die Hard fan, but I'm not easily bothered as the franchise continues to evolve. The plot is simple but sufficient to support the off-the-charts action, the dialog is a little weak, but what a fun ride! Don't miss this one on the big screen!
