I saw the commercials and figured this would be a pretty good movie. But the only good parts were what was in the commercial... The acting was terrible and the plot wasn't very good either. He has no sense of urgency during the movie at all and he didn't have any real obsticles. The whole movie the dad kept having flash-backs to the same moment and bleeding out.. I mean the beast thing in the end barely even lasted a few minutes before that was over, and Jaden's acting during that scene was iffy. So if you were thinking about seeing this I would suggest you go find another movie like Star Trek or something like that. And if you don't care about my review and are going to go see it I don't suggest bringing kids because it is kind of gory and there are some scary scenes weaved in there, and if you are scared easily just bring somebody to cling to and you'll be good

Critics Are Overly Critical—See the Film for Yourself—Also Good for Older Children

I enjoyed the film and felt that Kitai's character was fleshed out pretty well. It was established that he was smart and had some field training although he fell short of proving himself to be a ranger while in the academy. Hey, he was a young teen living with some serious scars and a hero dad who was out saving the world but not his family. The fact that Will's character was severely injured and unable to move his lower body allowed him to feel real fear for his son who had a daunting task to undertake. It would have been nice to see him cry or agonize more but that may have been out of character. It would have also been nice to see more terrorizing creatures. I think there were four if you include the insect. The ones they had were pretty cool. Not sure that a human can actually outrun several monkeys. All in all, the movie held my attention and was entertaining. It empowered a young man who didn't know what he had in him. I also liked the capability of his suit and the mother bird.

After After Earth

AFTER the few touching moments between a Father and his only Son, and after the excellent computer generated graphics of some very wicked looking Beasties, I was left feeling like Will Smiths son's acting still needed some lessons. ALTHOUGH his acting has definitely has improved over earlier movies, he still needs a few more years to learn how to develop his characters a bit more. Excellent directing by M. Night and OVERALL a good movie that may have been better in 3D and is just between a So-So and a GO.

I understand the concept of movie but it was still a little slow for me. as always I remind people what I may not like may be the best movie to them so go see it and let us know what you think.

After Earth is a very solid movie. The acting from will smith was amazing, and it was amazing just seeing how far his son Jaden has come in his acting career. The movie had its moments of action, scares, and raw emotion that sometimes brought tears to my eyes. This movie is a perfect father son film that shows that at the end of it all when all hope seems lost, you still have each other. I would highly suggest seeing this film if you have not done so already. I GIVE THIS MOVIE AN 8.5 OUT OF 10!!!!!!
