Loved this movie.

I'm a scifi fan and I came with no expectations to watch this movie. I saw it 6/1/2013 and I really loved it. There was so much conversation in the movie theater from people who saw it afterwards and all the complaints I heard were from people who pretty much were expecting Star Wars action and instead they get the remake of Dune with more action. Get over it! It was worth my 8 bucks and my 4 co-workers loved it also. The other thing I noticed was that most of the people in my theatre who saw it and really liked it for example, either had family and/or children with them/spouses/sisters/brothers etc If you go to this movie wanting only Action/special effects and nothing Deep to make you think about our planet, your life etc then do not go and see it. If you are on the fence wait until pay per view or rent and decide if it's worth buying, but if you have money to spend and no epectations then Go for it and you just might like it.

Worst director in history

There is so much that could have been done with this. The dialogue was pathetic and the acting was subpar thruout. Considering 75% of the film is two people talking to each other that is just not acceptable. Then you get to the end credits and the director who shall not be named is responsible for the film, the only good thing I can say is at least the ******* didn't have one of his surprise plot twist endings. Someone explain how Shamalamadingdong keeps getting projects?

Oh M. Night Shyamalan You Did This?

After Earth   As I watched the credits roll and saw that the director was M. Night Shyamalan I was disappointed that he would even consider releasing this movie. Most of his other work has had some substance which this film clearly lacked.   I was surprised that the ship was able to make interstellar space trips, but couldn't keep track of the asteroids. Then too the emergency beakons(only two) were not housed in something that would protect it from a crash.   To watch Kitai make his journey to the only surviving beacon was tedious at best. Chypher’s comment that the planet’s life forms had evolved to kill humans was a bit contrived. The life forms didn’t know humans from anything else that seemed easy to kill and eat. The giant bird saving Kati was a real stretch too. All in all the film was very predictable and not very exciting. Save your money and time and skip this fluff.

After After Earth

AFTER the few touching moments between a Father and his only Son, and after the excellent computer generated graphics of some very wicked looking Beasties, I was left feeling like Will Smiths son's acting still needed some lessons. ALTHOUGH his acting has definitely has improved over earlier movies, he still needs a few more years to learn how to develop his characters a bit more. Excellent directing by M. Night and OVERALL a good movie that may have been better in 3D and is just between a So-So and a GO.

Enjoyed it!

The CGI wasn't the best, and some of the acting wasn't anything to write home about. With that being said, my wife and i really enjoyed the movie. Not worth paying $10 per ticket but if you can get in to a dollar theater or rent it, its worth checking out.
