See it in

After Earth is more like an episode of a tv show than a movie. I kept waiting for the "punch" - the twist, the REAL story, but nope, it really is just about getting from point A to point B. There is no story. There are many unanswered questions such as: Why is it called "After Earth?" Why do the characters use an annoyingly strange accent? My plants all die if it freezes for more than 3 nights so how does Earth look so lush? And don't even get me started on the lame technology blunders(!!!!!), the horrendously bad acting, lack of plot and decent script, etc. I don't think it's possible to be more disappointed in this movie and anyone who actually gave it a rating in the green is giving a nod to Will Smith. I adore Will Smith as much as the next person, but c'mon, Will, don't force your kid on us!! You are so amazing...but after this, you owe your fans another "I Am Legend" or "i Robot". Nepotism is not always the best idea. After Earth is a huge example of that.

So much hype

It was an ok movie, but didn't live up to the hype. Ok for older children who don't mind a bit of suspense, not good for kids who scare easily. Nothin to write home about.

Dad Pimps out Son

Oh my God! If Will Smith had wanted to be in an M. Night movie that was good, he missed by a number of years! Sixth Sense was his one decent effort. pimp your kids out as brazenly as this movie does,'s shameful. Let the children grow up and into some talent. Will Smith has some natural God given talents. Presuming your children have the same abilities is wrong...especially when you pimp them out to movie audiences. Oh gads. Horrid movie. Have not heard anyone continuously say [suh] for [sir] since Gone With the Wind. How inappropriate. oh gads...horrid.

Cure for insomnia

I'm sorry, but this feels more like a high school play than a professional film - at least as far as the storyline and dialog go. The graphics are first rate. But, yawn, for $130m, you expect a lot more than this. Great for a nap.

loved the messages in the movie!

it was a positive portrayal of African Americans in futuristic times. the messages of "taking a knee" grounding oneself / focus / determination and family were also great...
