Very different to the book

I read the book a while back and was interested to see how it would translate to film. Although the basic story premise is there, the movie misses a great deal and it surprised me to see the author was heavily involved in the movie. The book is more about making a very believable case of blending historical fact with fiction, and it does this very well. The movie is much more focused on vampire slaying, and as such it's a good bit of fun. Its action is very much along the lines of the new Sherlock Holmes movies with Robert Downey Jnr. My other half came with me to see the movie, and she is half way through the book. As soon as we left I told her that the movie does not spoil the ending of the book and she should still continue it. It's a fun movie to watch, but the book as ever, is ten times as good.

Some great historical references. A bit gory, the boys enjoyed it.

It was a decent movie, made me jump a few times which our oldest son enjoyed. Some great historical references. A bit far fetched in places. But overall a good summer movie. 17 year old and 10 year old both watched. Actiion/Suspence. Bloody violence toward the bad guys. Not sure I would take young ones. Our 10 year old has seen gore having older brothers in the house and in previous movies. Not for the faint of heart with blood and guts!

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Good movie in itself. Hard to think that an actual historical figure would be this character but if you can stop thinking about that part, the movie is good entertainment.

This movie sure does put a spin on Lincoln and the 1800's. Yes, we all know zombies are not real, and yes we know that he did not fight any zombies but it was a fun movie to watch. You have to go into the theatre knowing what you are about to watch. It is all about entertainment and what you get out of it and this movie was pretty entertaining for the two hours. Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker), the 16th President of the United States finds out the plan that Vampires want to take over the United States and eliminate all living beings. His plan is to stop them with the help of Dominic Cooper (Henry Sturgess), Jimmi Simpson (Joshua Speed) and Anthony Mackie (Will Johnson). They must stop the leader of the group Rufus Sewell (Adam). If you want a period movie with zombies and action, go see this! It was fun and a good way to spend your afternoon. Who knew Lincoln was so good at killing dead people? Go see it! There might be a second one!
