I'm a big fan of Vampire Movies, if done right, and really wanted to see this because of the previews, although I wasnt expecting nothing over the top, the action scenes in the previews looked good. I was wrong, the movie itself had a really good story, the way they rewrote the history around Abe Lincoln, his family, the civil war, and tied it all into Vampires at that time, to me it took alot of thought, and made a really good story to go along with the good vampire fighting scenes, and characters that grow on you and you really begin to like. I seen this with my wife, and even she found this movie well worth seeing, and she isnt really one for these kind of movies. I have not read the book, so based on seeing the movie onlin, if your looking for a good "Blade" type action vampire movie, with a really good story wrapped around it, then go see this, as I'd give it 3 out of 4 stars myself. Thanks and hope you found my review helpful. Enjoy :)

I went into this movie completely blind, lured only by the fact that it looked like a mythical action movie. It turned out to be one of the best films I've seen this year. It takes itself just as seriously as it needs to, the action is great, the cg is well done and the characters are actually fleshed out well enough that you care a little.

I truely think that I watched the movie of the year last night.
The writers wrote a classic.
The directing of this film was brilliant. It mixed history of our country with arguably the most popular president in all of our countryies history with slight brilliant additions of imagination
that kept me in goosebumps and gripping my seat with bits of horror.
I think the actors were all brilliant, and absolutely played there roles to the finest.
I just can't say enough about another VAMPIRE movie that mostly fall far beneath the good bar not to mention are barely watchable laughers. This I assure you will keep you watching
and wanting all that it has to offer.
This is an a+ thriller that you must see.

I really liked it. I remember hearing about the book and thinking what?!?! But it was a good/entertaining story. The visual look of the movie was great. I liked the action scenes- overall very entertaining. Definitely worth seeing in the theater!

The novel, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, written by Seth Grahame-Smith is a fictional biography, based on secret diaries written by the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, which were given to the author by a vampire named Henry Sturges. The fight scenes were well done as was the overall cinematography (handled admirably by Caleb Deschanel). The CGI and stop motion was handled well and added to the overall feel of the fight scenes (with the vampires and in the war scenes). The best parts of the movie have to be the action scenes, which Bekmambetov directed very well. I really enjoyed the final credits rolling over a map of the United States being illustrated/drawn with blood. A very nice effect!
For those who are looking for an action/horror film, this is your cup of tea (blood really). For those looking for an authentic historical film about our 16th president, this is not for you, but you might enjoy the novel. It was far more satisfying then this film.
