I'm not sure why there are so many harsh critics for this movie. I think the story is well written and it mixed some non-fiction element into an otherwise typical vampire movie. Some of the critics do have a point. But I wonder how they'd feel about this movie if Abraham Lincoln was taken out of the story. And what about the civil war element and a lot of fast forwarding in Abrahm Lincoln's life? If you want to watch Civil war movie or Abraham Lincoln's biography, you wouldn't rely on this movie to get what you want.
With that said, I highly recommend this movie only because of the director's outside the box thinking. If you like vampire movies, you got to see this one.

There were great parts and some really bad parts. Its like the script writer saw the title and wrote a script around it without actually reading the book.

It was awesome seeing all the history woven into the story and they did a great job of creating a world of the turn of the century Washington.

It's really sad that this movie was so bad. The premise was actually "believable" and very interesting. This movie was executed very poorly. Plot and character development were both bad. The story was way more simple simon than it should have been. There were a lot of cliche and predictable moments as well. A smattering of exciting visuals were overwhelmed by repetitive scenes of the axe wielding Abraham.
This movie could have been SO much more in the hands of another director and producer. Whoever was responsible for Sherlock Holmes could have turned this movie into something amazing. I hope someone in the future does a remake of this.

The stunts are way over the top, the story is at the same time ridiculous yet plausible, and I sat there laughing my head off, loving every minute of it.
