Dramatic action sequences and droll humor, this Bond movie takes us back to the former wit and classic feel of the best bond movies - before the gadgets took over. I am a lifelong Bond fan, and have been especially eager for Skyfall to arrive. I didn't expect Judi Dench to look so rough, or Bond to look like he's been on a five day bender in this, but it's all part of a larger scheme to bring Bond to a higher, better level. This isn't the polished, indomitable, there's-never-a-doubt-in-your-mind Bond - this is the Bond that starts off the film by being very, very dead, and has to work his way back into saving the world, one day of recovery at a time. I thought at first that the damaged Bond dynamic would turn me off, but instead it added a welcome edge to the film - the edge of my seat,as I gripped it, that is. I also loved the villain - I have long respected Javier Bardem, and have seen many of his films, but he was truly brilliant as a Bond villain. ...(read more)

The movie was boring, thoroughly predictable, and the ending was set up for another installment. The action sequences were terrific though, and the effects were pretty cool. If you've got money to burn, absolutely see it in the theater. Otherwise, just wait for it to come out on DVD and you can have a private screening for your friends for the same price. ...(read more)
