I was really excited going into the movie and I was not disappointed. It exceeded my high expectations. It sets up Peter Parker's character very well while still leaving some room for questions. This version of Spider-man was more generally appealing. He came across as more human and vulnerable. I'll admit Emma Stone's presence in the movie was very enjoyable and could be slanting my opinion. I would say 'The Amazing Spider-man' was as good or maybe slightly better than 'The Avengers'. What pushed it over for me was the emotional connection one can make with the main characters--I didn't really get much of an emotional response from 'The Avengers' as I did in this. The movie was stunning and spectacular. I personally haven't read the graphic novel yet but I was still able to follow and appreciate the story. I did like how the story/movie flowed like a graphic novel or comic book. I think they did a good job making the movie understandable and enjoyable for those have and have not read the graphic novel. ...(read more)
