Enjoyed Dibakar Banerjee's Shanghai (2012); gritty, realistic, non-emotional portrayal; great, if
subdued, acting by the cast - leaves some questions unanswered and some backgrounds unexplored, but the viewer is free to fill up those gaps as necessary. Banerjee has a finger on the pulse of the North Indian life, as evident from the earlier films from his oeuvre. Good and thought-provoking watch.
Don 2 picks up nicely from where Don 1 left off. The action sequences and CGI effects are really
very good, and I loved that fact that there was only one of the mandatory song-and-dance routines in this movie. SRK looks good, although at some angles, he does seem to miss his youthfulness of the early days. I guess, age happens to everyone! Overall, Don 2 is watchably entertaining. But oh! Don't forget to watch it in a movie theater with large screen.
Well made movie, visually stunning and fast paced storyline. Animation effects are awesomely done.
The story, however, would certainly irk Tintin purists, especially those in India and European countries who have grown up with the stories. The movie storyline, albeit well woven, is a re-synthesis of two major Tintin stories, with random plotlines from various other Tintin stories thrown in. This, I think, was necessitated by the fact that this franchise is being presented for the first time to the US audience, which has little prior exposure to this particular comic book, and the writers wanted to make the most of the chance. Nevertheless, I - despite being a Tintin purist myself - enjoyed the movie very much. I recommend the IMAX 3D version, to be seen in a big screen for the maximum effect.
