I'd hoped more people would be singing, embarrassed to say mine may have been the loudest voice in
the audience. Nevertheless, it was fun. I'd seen the movie already, and know most of the ABBA lyrics (yeah, I said it!), but the on-screen lyrics are helpful and nostalgic for those of us who still remember Mitch Miller. Which leads to the real pleasure of the show: grown-ups! Singing, dancing, sexy! All the adult leads are in their glorious late fifties, except for Colin Firth (my contemporary at 48, and looking fine). We've known Meryl Streep can sing since Postcards from the Edge; she can dance, too. No real surprise-- the woman can do anything, and gives us all hope.
