Wonderful cast, wonderful chorus. If you love Mozart, go! If you love opera, go! If you don't,
..... you might want to try it. The music is beautiful and the singing is awesome.
Wonderful production! Outstanding performances. Wonderful costumes, staging and music.
This production ranged from engaging at times to tedious all too often. The vocal score for the
principals was interesting and well performed, but rarely pleasant to listen to; though the choral and orchestral scores were outstanding. Acts one and two had a few wonderful moments, where an interesting libreto meshed well with an interesting variety of pulsating musical cacocophanies, before repetition bagan inducing solemnity. Act three, however, though just as musically challenging for the talented performers as the first two acts, failed to rise beyond the tedious. Kathleen Kim was wonderful in all respects, as was the soprano who played Pat Nixon. Chorus and orchestra, as well, were wonderful and credit to all four male performers, who sang and acted their roles with great abilities, is deserved. This is not an opera I would go to see again.
