Music very powerful. More realistic to modern audiences. Did not like the portrayal of the
Viscount even tho' I recognized that the show was trying to depict the fact that there is bad in the best of us and good in the worst of us. In the movie, the Viscount was very adoring and loving a person and it was hard to see him in this show as very crude, selfish, and almost cruel. It did not compute for me. I thought the boy was marvelous as were all the other singers especially the 2 leads. I thought the drama was portrayed excellently. I liked the ending very much where the Phantom finally received the love he was denied all his life. Also, in the movie, it was the Phantom who left the red rose. In this show, it said that the Viscount left the red rose to Christine and that descrepancy grated. The setting and staging were very appropriate and I could hear the echos of the music from Phantom. I would recommend it. Nancy Lane
