Absolutely and amazing movie. I attended with my twin 8-year-old boys and their sisters and all
four kids were entranced.
The 3D, unlike oth films, is not intrusive or obvious, but immersive and brings you inside the clockworks and streets of Paris without your realizing it.
Hugo definitely had the Scorcese attention to detail, but being the director's first foray into the digital set creation, the effects were as much a part of the story as the characters.
BeN Kingsley gives a stellar performance that is so moving you feel both s disappointment and his joy when the movie reaches its culmination. Added to that, Scorcese's love of filmmaking and storytelling make this a perfect vehicle for his direction.
At the least, he and Kingsley deserve Oscar nods for a film that crosses generations and entrances everyone. It is a family film without your realizing your are watching a family film. It is as exciting - maybe more so - as any other film I have seen this year.
